Have you ever zoomed on a zip line through a jungle in Thailand? Oh, or seen gibbons (a type of primate) in their natural habitat? Or both together in one breathtaking, ziplining-high experience? Or even all that on Thanksgiving with a delicious dinner? I seriously doubt it! I have, though, and part of that wonderful day was going 80 meters per second or 178 miles per hour and completing an 800 meter zipline in about 12 seconds. Walking, that would take me ten minutes!
The beginning of our amazing adventure started with my little brother, Elio launching off to start ziplining. He landed, safe and sound, and even though I was really scared, I went right after him, and surprisingly it was really fun and felt very safe. The harness held me well. I also loved the speed we were going! Well, it felt like I had done even scarier things on our trip. It probably helped that I didn’t look down.
We did a few more ziplines and then we wobbled along on a few long, wobbly suspension bridges. Then we marveled at the grace and speed of the mom, dad, and baby gibbons playing over in the trees 20 feet or so up. After that, we did the long 800 ZOOMING meters in ten seconds. That was the longest zipline. After about ten more shorter ones and a tandam zipline, which my brother and I did together, we arrived at the halfway point of our ziplining adventure.
From there on out, we did many other tricks, such as jumping off on your stomach like Superman, and we also zoomed along another long one… The guides weren’t sure about the length.
At the end, the guides lowered us 45 meters down, connected to a rope. I was wondering why they didn’t have stairs as we walked to a tasty Thai lunch. It was good but I tried not to eat too much because we were going to have a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner that night.
Later, we headed out for our already-booked (found online) dinner. It was fantastic and tasted truly American (but without the American prices). I ate sooo much for having had a big lunch at 2:00. There was turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. I loved it!
All in all, Thanksgiving in Thailand was fantastic! I am happy we got to zipline, see the baby gibbon playing, and have a delectable Thanksgiving dinner. I loved our holiday and would quite willingly turn this into a new Thanksgiving tradition!
