Lunch in Cat Ba Town

Dear Babbo,

I want to tell you about a funny experience that we had on Cat Ba Island the other day. Our family was searching for a decent place to grab lunch. We headed into a restaurant that looked good but instead was comparable to you going over to Olive Garden and buying the food to take and sell at Riccardo’s. The man snagged a menu from another restaurant and after we ordered he went to a different restaurant and asked if they had the food we ordered. They said they didn’t have any curry, which was one of the dishes we ordered.

Also the restaurant was playing R rated movie and my mom and dad were not too happy about that. Even though I tried not to watch, I still heard a lot of machine guns. It was a love battle with a lot of death, blood, and kissing.

Usually in Vietnamese restaurants, food is served whenever ready, so everything comes at different times. In a restaurant you start with Spring Rolls, then do veggies, continue to main course, then you have dessert.  But this restaurant didn’t seem to follow any logic at all

Oh, and the guy could not remember five dishes. He went three blocks down and came back three times and finally wrote it down, but even then he asked again. We figured he must have disappearing ink!

All in all, we thought the restaurant was crazy and left without food. But it was funny and we couldn’t help laughing a lot! And, no worries! We found someplace better to eat.

                                Love,

                                Lorenzo

The story about this crazy restaurant sure is funny. I am glad you guys were able to laugh at this ridiculous experience. Sometimes laughing is a much better choice than getting frustrated. Keep laughing!
